Becky Friedman challenged herself academically while at CHS, successfully taking Honors and AP courses and becoming Vice President of the National Honor Society. She took full advantage of the theater offerings and worked both on stage and as a director. She sang in the Treble Choir, participated in the annual Musical every year and had roles both junior and senior year. While at Tufts University, from which she graduated Cum Laude, she majored in African History, was a member of the Golden Key National Honor Society and a writer and editor of the weekly Observer. Becky made significant contributions to research in arts education and volunteered by blending theater and community service. Her study abroad in South Africa culminated with a sustainable arts curriculum for poverty-stricken children. Becky’s work as a head writer (over 100 scripts) on “Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood” (a 3-time Emmy-nominated favorite of preschool kids and their parents, grounded in the work of Fred Rogers) is only one of many projects she has worked on in the field of early childhood development in the media. She continues to develop new programming to the present.
