Chelmsford High School Alumni Association
MICHAEL A. CAITO
MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
Established 2005
Awarding Criteria: Will be awarded to a deserving college-bound senior who has earned a varsity letter in football.
Michael Andrew Caito was born August 29, 1977 into a very athletic family of 3 brothers and 3 sisters. His father was the head football coach at Chelmsford High School for 1976 to 1995. Michael was a member of the graduating class of 1996.
From his early childhood you knew there was something special about Michael. He walked through life with an extreme love for the elderly and with a great deal of compassion for those less fortunate than himself. Michael’s smile and hugs were everywhere.
Michael’s athletic accomplishments were numerous, but his love for football and playing “the line”, whether it be offense or defense made his father very proud. Michael was the youngest, “the baby” of seven children and it was a standing joke around coaches that God had finally blessed his father with a lineman.
His peers voted captain Michael in his senior year. He was a MVC All-Star for three years in a row. He was named to the Boston Globe and Boston Herald All-Scholastic teams in 1994 and 1995. Michael was also a major contributor in the Super Bowl victory vs. Brookline High School in 1994. He was selected by two national high school magazines as one of the top 110 senior football players in the country. He was also selected as a third team high school All-American entering the 1995 season.
This scholarship was established in Michael’s name by his family and friends with the hope of helping those less fortunate and that his love for football will continue on in the life of another person.
