Chelmsford High School Alumni Association
LIZA CROWLEY
MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
Established 2012
Awarding Criteria: Will be awarded to a deserving senior who intends to further his or her education beyond high school and who has demonstrated exceptional character, compassion and considerable academic growth.
Liza Crowley was an English Teacher at Chelmsford High School from 1997 – 2004. Before Liza came to CHS, she taught English and was the English Department Chair at the Greater Lawrence Vocational-Technical School. In 2011, Liza lost the most courageous, hard fought battle with breast cancer that anyone could ever fight. Because of her love for her children, family, and friends, Liza outlived by, several years, all the doctors’ predictions, and in the mean time, taught us all what courage really means.
In the classroom, Liza’s compassion, intelligence, work ethic, sense of justice, and famous sense of humor made her a favorite teacher for those lucky enough to be assigned to her classes. She was especially effective with students, who, regardless of their level of achievement, appreciated the gift of getting an education. Because of her love of English and respect for her students, students of every level worked hard in her classes, loved what they were doing, and succeeded well beyond their expectations.
For these reasons, the Liza Crowley Memorial Scholarship will be awarded every year to a deserving student who intends to further her or his education beyond high school – one who has demonstrated exceptional character, compassion, and considerable academic growth.
Congratulations on winning this most important award and good luck with your post high school education!
