MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

Awarding Criteria: Will be awarded to the male and female seniors who have contributed the most to Chelmsford High School during their senior year
This scholarship is presented in the memory of a highly dedicated and admired member of the Chelmsford High School Faculty and Boys’ Varsity Basketball Coach.
Mr. Hicks was a member of the Chelmsford High School Faculty for eighteen years (1945 through 1963) teaching mathematics, chemistry and physics as well as coaching football and basketball. His 1951 boys’ basketball team made school history as it won the Class C State Championship in the Boston Garden.
Mr. Hicks will always be remembered as the firm but fair teacher and coach by his students and one who believed that all students should participate in the life of the school. It is with this spirit that his former students, players, and family raised the funds necessary to establish these scholarships in his memory. Thia scholarship will be presented annually to the male and female senior who have contributed the most to Chelmsford High School during their senior year.
