Howard E. and Elizabeth “Betty” Humphrey lived in Chelmsford for almost 50 years. They were active in town and throughout their lives gave their time and energy for the betterment of the town they loved and the people in it.
Howard and Betty were of part of what is called the “greatest generation”. Their generation was called to serve during World War II and went on to build a better life. They did not expect anything in return. They considered it part of being a good citizen.
Howard was a disabled American veteran, having served in the Navy during World War II in the South Pacific. He also was a selectman in Chelmsford and a member of many of the committees and boards that steered the course of Chelmsford’s future. Betty was always at his side, a loving, capable and supportive partner in every endeavor. They made a great team and Chelmsford is the better for it.
