Chelmsford High School Alumni Association

JUDITH A. KEEN MEMORIAL
ROTARY CLUB SCHOLARSHIP

Established 2009

Awarding Criteria: Will be awarded to a deserving senior who best exemplifies the Rotary Club’s Motto: "Service Above Self"

The motto of the Rotary organization is “Service Above Self”. Judith Keen, was a dedicated and active member of the Chelmsford chapter of Rotary for many years. The chapter elected to honor her memory by adding her name to their scholarship because they felt that Mrs. Keen exemplified the spirit of the motto.

Judith was born in 1943 in Stevens Point, Wisconsin. She graduated from Wisconsin State University Stevens Point in 1965 with a degree in History and Political Science. Prior to moving to Chelmsford in 1999, Judith and husband Charles, along with daughters Wendy and Martha, lived in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and Ottawa, Canada where she worked with library and hospital volunteer groups.

In Chelmsford she was well known for her homemade cookies that she faithfully baked for the quarterly Red Cross blood drives. She was always one of the first to volunteer and actively supported charities such as Lowell Wish Project, Cradles to Crayons, Maine Seacoast Mission, Merrimack Valley Food Bank as well as local Chelmsford and District Rotary projects.

The Judith Keen Rotary Scholarship is awarded to a graduating senior who, like Judith, best exemplifies the Rotary Club’s Motto: “Service Above Self”.
