Peter was a prominent Greater Lowell area Realtor and active in the Lowell senior housing community. He was a lifelong resident of the Belvidere section of Lowell. He attended Lowell public schools and was a graduate of Lowell High School and Boston College. He also served in the United States Army Reserves.

For many years, Peter was a trustee of the Washington Savings Bank of Lowell and Board member of the Lowell Development Finance Authority. He was a founding Board member of 15 Jaycee Place Housing and Rogers Hall Housing, two senior housing communities in Lowell.

Peter was the uncle of Stephen and David Markham, and Maryann (Markham) Gilet, graduates of Chelmsford High School whose parents Ed and Barbara Markham, (Peter’s brother and sister-in- law) were 30-year residents of Chelmsford.

Peter\\\'s parents were educators in the Lowell School System and so education was very important to him. His wish was for this scholarship to help with college education expenses for a Chelmsford High School graduate to attend his alma mater Boston College.
