ANN ELIZABETH (SHEA) NEWCOMB

MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

Established 2005

Awarding Criteria:  Will be awarded to a deserving senior who has earned a varsity letter in tennis and who has performed community service in the high school

Ann Newcomb was born and raised in Waltham, MA, along with her four brothers. She attended Waltham Schools and graduated from Waltham High School in 1950.

She married Joseph Newcomb in 1952 and settled in Chelmsford, where their four children attended Chelmsford Schools and all graduated from CHS.

Mrs. Newcomb worked for the Chelmsford School System for over twenty years, including being Secretary for Dickinson House from the opening of the new High School in 1974 until her retirement in 1992.

She was an avid tennis player throughout most of her life, remaining competitive until her final months. Mrs. Newcomb was also very involved in community service, teaching English as a Second Language (ESL), performing in local fundraising dance shows, and mentoring Chelmsford High students who were interested in an administrative career.

This scholarship is to continue her dedication to Chelmsford High students and her love of competitive tennis.
