Joshua T. Blagg
Class of 1991
Joshua (Josh) Blagg is an outstanding educator, athlete, and coach.
While at CHS, Josh was an award-winning member of the Swimming and Diving Team. He was a 4-time Lowell Sun All Star, 1991 Swimmer of the Year, 3-time Boston Globe All Scholastic, 2-time Boston Herald All Scholastic, 1991 Junior National Qualifier and established the CHS Club Water Polo Team serving as Captain as a Junior and Senior.
He was also an active member of his class (1991). He served as a Class Representative and a member of the Student Council (VP as a Senior) all four years. Also chosen as Emerson House Student of the Month.
Josh received his BA from the University of Richmond in 1995 and his MEd from the University of Massachusetts-Lowell in 1998. While at Richmond he was a successful member of the Men’s Swimming and Water Polo Teams. He held the school record for the 200 IM and his Water Polo teams were ranked in the Top 20 of NCAA Division 1 teams all four years he as there.
He returned to Chelmsford to begin his successful educational and coaching career after graduating from Richmond. He was an Elementary, Middle and High School Teacher, CHS and Westford Academy Head Swim Teach Coach, as well Head Coach for the New Wave Swim Club and Chelmsford Swim and Tennis Club. His teams won numerous Division 1 State Championships. While many of his swimmers won individual State Championships. He was received Coach of the Year Awards from the Lowell Sun as well as the Boston Globe. Josh is a highly respected and effective Dean of CHS Hawthorne House.
