Judith Flanagan MacPhee
Memorial Scholarship

Awarding Criteria:
Will be awarded to a deserving graduate of CHS who is enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program pursuing a career in nursing

The Judith “Judie” Flanagan MacPhee scholarship was established in memory of their Mother, by her three children Julie-Class of 1987, Jill-Class of 1989, and John-Class of 1991.

Judie was born in Lowell, Massachusetts, later moving to Chelmsford during her childhood. She was involved in school activities including cheerleading and senior class treasurer. She graduated with the CHS Class of 1962.

In 1964, she graduated from Lemuel Shattuck School of Nursing and was employed as a nurse for several healthcare facilities including Bosoton Visiting Nursing Association and the Boston Public Health Department in the Maternal Infant Care Project. She was also owner and Director for 19 years of Lamaze Childbirth Preparation Classes held in local Lowell hospitals. She worked as a school nurse at Lighthouse School in Chelmsford until her retirement.

Judie, a true people person, was very active in the Chelmsford community including the Chelmsford High School Alumni Association and the Parent Teacher Organization for Chelmsford Public Schools. She also was a volunteer for the Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts, her church St. Mary's and St. John the Evangelist of Chelmsford. Her family was even nominated for Family of the Year in 1989.

Judie was a great friend to many, her friendships often becoming lifelong. She enjoyed life to the fullest, always smiling, laughing, and seeing the good in everyone she met. She loved children, had a warm heart, tremendous compassion, and a never-ending gift of unconditional love and care for her patients, her friends, and her family.
