MICHAEL AND JOANNE SARGENT
Awarding Criteria: Will be awarded to a deserving graduate who after successfully completing one year of college plans on entering a medical, dental, or nursing career
Michael G. (CHS ’75) and Joanne L. Sargent (CHS ’76) are Chelmsford High School graduates and proud members of the CHSAA Hall of Fame. After Chelmsford High School, Michael graduated from St. Anselm College and Georgetown University School of Dentistry, while Joanne graduated from Peter Bent Brigham School of Nursing and Emmanuel College.
Joanne’s nursing career brought her to Duke University Hospital, George Washington University Hospital in Washington, D.C., St. Joseph’s Hospital in Lowell and the Walk- In Medical Centers in Lowell, Chelmsford and Billerica. During the early years of Joanne’s nursing career she spent most of her time working n the Emergency Room, Intensive Care and the Hyperbaric Chamber. She now owns and operates two businesses, Sargent and Associates and Begin with Skin Med Spa.
Michael returned home to Chelmsford and began his career in dentistry in 1983, when he established his successful practice, Michael Sargent DDS. He was influenced to become a dentist at an early age, due, in large part, to the encouragement of his family dentist, Dr. Albert Abrahamson, also a Chelmsford High School graduate. Michael also enjoys restoring historic property in and around Chelmsford.
This Scholarship is awarded to a Chelmsford High School alumnus who is planning to become a physician, dentist or nurse.
