Amherst, MA Public Schools Teacher (Grades 2 & 3); Wilmington, MA Public Schools Teaching Principal; Chelmsford, MA Public Schools Principal (Harrington Elementary School-1st Principal) Developed innovative/cutting edge initiatives including: Administrative Team consisting of Team Leaders from each grade level, Specialists & Principal as shared school governance decision making body, Team Teaching at each grade level with elected Team Leaders responsible for scheduling & instruction, Open Principal’s Office to provide daily access for students, teachers & parents, Parent Advisory Council (PAC) meeting regularly with Principal to volunteer services in classrooms & serve as advisor in school budgetary & governing decisions, Under Evelyn’s leadership, Harrington School became a charter member as an Individually Guided School (IGE School) developed at the University of Wisconsin, piloted an Individualized Math Program w/emphasis on manipulatives & timely student progress procedures, Piloted the National Science Curriculum Improvement Study, Piloted Social Studies teacher developed kits that were later patented and sold commercially, Led the School System in establishing a Readiness Class, which acknowledged developmental differences in early childhood education, Created a safe & physically demanding school playground, Established an extensive professional library for staff, Provided, a then, innovative intensive in-service education program for staff during early release days, Lead Harrington Elementary School to become a nationally recognized school
