CHSAA Hall of Fame

Qualifications and Nomination Forms

The concept of a Hall of Fame to honor graduates of Chelmsford High School was first envisioned in the early 1980's by then-principal George Simonian. After approaching several people involved with CHS for ideas concerning the development of a Hall of Fame, one never materialized. After the establishment of the CHSAA, the idea of a Hall of Fame was revisited. The Association provided a perfect vehicle for the development of the concept of an all-inclusive Hall of Fame.

The CHSAA Hall of Fame is unique in that it honors graduates and staff who have made significant contributions to Chelmsford High School and their communities in a wide spectrum of areas. The Hall of Fame inductees may be outstanding scholars, leaders and/or athletes. They may have achieved great success in their chosen careers and/or made notable contributions to their communities. They also may be administrators, teachers or coaches who have gone above and beyond in their dedication to Chelmsford High School and its students.

Since the first induction class in 1991, the Hall of Fame has grown to include graduates from as early as 1908, up to graduates from 1986. They have made their contributions in such varied careers from Broadway playwrights to military officers. Some inductees have lived all over the world, while others have chosen to spend their entire lives in Chelmsford, the town they grew up in and came to love and serve for a lifetime.

THE GOLDEN LION AWARD

"The Golden Lion Award" was established in 1994 as part of our Hall of Fame. This award is presented to an individual or an organization for their generous and continuing support of Chelmsford High School. Unlike the Hall of Fame Awards, this award is not necessarily awarded annually.

As of 2006, the name was changed to "The Lucy E. Simonian Golden Lion Award" after the late Lucy Simonian. Mrs. Simonian was the epitome of support for all things CHS.
