Jen was a member of both the Chorus and the Treble Choir and participated in the Musicals. She was a successful varsity swimmer, as well. She was active in St. Mary’s Youth Leadership and earned the Girl Scout Silver Award. As a senior, she was the Assistant Editor-in-Chief of the Yearbook. Jen’s college career brought both struggle and great resilience, as she developed anorexia nervosa early and experienced the low points before treatment led to greater strength. She eventually graduated Summa Cum Laude. The wisdom she has developed as a result of her experience is shared generously and well in her writing, both fiction and non-fiction. Her work as a librarian with children and teens gave her a foundation upon which to build her important platform for helping young people deal with challenges. She continues to speak with groups needing guidance in the area of eating disorder recovery, as well as volunteering in her daughters’ schools.
