Lauren Cochran
Teacher

At the time of Lauren’s 2019 induction into the Chelmsford Alumni Association’s Hall of Fame, she was a highly respected and exceptionally successful member of the Fine Arts Department at Chelmsford High School. She is a Director, Producer, Writer, Fundraiser, as well as a tour director for CHS students.

Her teaching responsibilities include: Music Education, Theater, and Filmmaking. In addition to her teaching duties, Lauren is the Advisor for the award winning CHS Theater Guild. The Guild’s annual musical production is a “must attend” event for everyone in the region. Lauren’s students are perennial award winners in local, regional and statewide competition play contests. At the time of her induction, Lauren had written, directed or produced over 85 productions

Lauren was responsible for creating the “Black Box Theater” by renovating the former Lecture Hall 2 to provide an outstanding space for smaller student productions and recitals. In addition to the creation of the Black Box Theater, she has produced over 18 CHS student written and directed Children’s Plays.

Her support for the Fine and Performing Arts at CHS is legendary. She won a $10,000.00 prize in a video contest and donated it to begin the fundraising for a much need storage shed for theater productions. She then lead the fundraising effort to raise the addition $50,000 needed to complete the project.

Lauren’s guidance, training and support for her students has aided her students in their post high school education and career choices. Many have gone on to have very successful careers in theater and performance.
