Jeffrey D. Doherty

Teacher, Coach, Administrator

Jeffrey Doherty is a multi-talented, inspirational educator who bleeds “Maroon and White”.

Jeff was the teacher who made learning enjoyable and meaningful for students of varying interests and abilities. He made each student feel valued and tailored his teaching strategies so that every student experienced a level of success. He was the educator sought out by guidance counselors and administrators as the mentor for the disenfranchised or disruptive students as well as those more gifted and talented learners. His students left his classroom not only appreciating literature and able to communicate more effectively, but also as responsible, supportive and honest individuals with a goal of making this teacher, this inspirational mentor proud!

At Chelmsford High, Jeff held many roles. He was the encouraging and patient coach of the newly formed junior varsity girls soccer program, track team, and later tennis teams. He assisted with the drama club, and was twice a Class Advisor. He took a lead role in the faculty plays and other faculty activities raising money for student scholarships. He was a constant presence at all student activities and athletic events as a teacher and then administrator. As Dean of Emerson House, Jeff continued to mentor students of varying interests toward successful CHS graduates and future members of our Hall of Fame. When CHS moved to a block schedule format, it was Jeff who volunteered to design the computer program that successfully scheduled students into their various courses and met graduation standards.

Jeff has had two CHS yearbooks dedicated to him, and he was selected by the CHS Class of 2014 to have his named added to their CHSAA scholarship
