Annmarie Roark

Class of 1972



Following her 1972 graduation from Chelmsford High School, where she was a member of the Future Teachers of America Club and the Girls’ Varsity Tennis Team,  Annmarie Roark attended the University of Lowell, graduating cum laude in 1976 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education and Psychology. While attending the University of Lowell, she was an active member of the student body, serving as a Student Representative and as Treasurer and President of the Class of 1976. At graduation, in recognition of her achievements, Annmarie was awarded the President's Medal for Distinguished Student Service, an award presented to only six graduating students.

Annmarie decided to become a lawyer and was accepted to and enrolled in the New England School of Law. To pay the cost of her tuition, she worked full-time as a Private Investigatorwhile attending Law School at night. Annmarie earned her Juris Doctorate Cum Laude in 1980, was awarded the Minna Connors Reeves Award, in recognition of her being the highest-ranking female graduate, and was awarded three different American Jurisprudence Awards. After graduation, she practiced law in various firms and does so now in her own law firm, Roark Law Office P.C. with her daughter Elizabeth, CHS Class of 1993.

Professionally, Annmarie is ethicallybeyondreproachandhercompetency and professionalism have never beenchallenged. She is a member of the Massachusetts and New Hampshire Bar Associations, the National Association of Elder Law Attorneys, and she is a former Secretary and a current member of the Merrimack Valley Estate Planning Council. She is also a member of both the Massachusetts and New Hampshire Bars, and is a member of the United States District Court for the Districts of Massachusetts and New Hampshire.

Annmariebelieves strongly that it is the responsibility of each citizen to give back to the community. As an attorney,she provides legal services probono to many local nonprofit and charitable organizations,including CHSAA and its Foundation, and the Greater Lowell Community Foundation (GLCF).  As well, she gives generously of her time to numerous volunteer organizations within the community; she is a PastPresident and current Director of the Chelmsford Business Association, a former member of the Board of Directors of CHSAA, the former Secretary and current Director of the GLCF, and is a member of the Chelmsford Police Foundation. Annmarie doesn't just participate in these various organizations, she leads. Recently she was a driving force in organizing and running the inaugural CHSAA Foundation Golf Tournament held in May 2015. Her efforts helped the Foundation raise over$8,000

Annmarie is especially proud of her election in 2003 as a Director of the Chelmsford Board of Health and has been elected for three additional terms. She recently appeared on the cable television show Town Talk, to discuss regulations recently adopted by the Board of Health to control and improve the quality of life of those individuals being housed long-term by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts inhotels.

Annmarie epitomizes selfless commitment to her community, her profession and to her friends, family and associates.
