Any family, individual, or organization may establish a scholarship in recognition of a person, organization, or group by donating a minimum of $5000 to the CHSAA Endowment Fund. This donation becomes the "principal" or base amount of the individual scholarship fund. The annual amount of the scholarship award is derived from the annual accrued interest on the scholarship principal.
In order to assure that enough interest has accrued by the annual awarding of scholarships in the spring, the principal of all designated scholarships must be established by September 1 of the school year in which the award is to be given.
If a donor wishes to establish a designated scholarship after the Sept. 1 deadline to be awarded in the spring of that same school year, they must adhere to the following procedure:
- Create the designated scholarship with the minimum $5000 donation
- Donate the desired award amount to be given in the Spring over and above the principal.
- The amount of the award may be determined by the donor, however a minimum of $250 is required.
